Going To Work

My cousin and I had been wanting to get more involved in politics for quite a while. No not running for an elected office. That would more like a full time job. Actually the way congress has acted the last several years it's been more like a job after school. They would go to work for a week and take a month off. And if it's election time for one of them, they just quit showing up. When Marco Rubio was running for president he just quit going! So maybe that wouldn't such a but job for a couple of old farts.
But no, Robert and I decided to work to get these politicians to do what we want instead of what some rich guy wants them to do! We're not asking for much. Just leave our retirement alone, don't mess up the ACA just cause you don't like Obama! He actually did a pretty good job for this country. I'm not saying it's a perfect plan, but its a whole lot better than what the republicans have for us. Now they've had 7 years to come up with something, but they instead spent a whole lot of money trying to overturn it. People like it, the pre-existing conditions is pretty popular, and so is keeping your children on it till age 26. The problem is that the democrats didn't do a good job of selling it.
Actually that wasn't my topic, just got carried away on that. So Robert and me have spent a few years trolling social media, and damned if we didn't have a blast. Really trolling isn't the right word, cause we always tried to have our facts right. We don't go in for non of that alternative news that is so popular with that bunch in the White House now. Man, talk about liars! I'm still worried about that massacre in Sweden just two days ago. Now see that's not anything but a down right lie. We've always tried to be informed,we don't rely on anyone one source. When Romney did he's 48% speech I had heard about it days before it broke, but didn't post anything about it cause I don't like to spread false information.
Moving the story along here. We decided to get even more involved. We join out local Resist group. Been going to the mobile town hall meetings. Those turned out to be pretty satisfying. We got out thoughts and feelings about what is going on. Actually was in one meeting that got a little loud. The police came out but while there was shouting, no one ever even left their chair. So really got our message out. Problem we seem to have is our congressman Jeff Denham has been avoiding having a town hall meeting. He prefers to do phone town halls where he pick which questions he will reply to. If you have ever gotten one of his questioners, they all have a slant to them, all slanted so you reply in a very unsatisfied manner.
Well Robert and I have started our own news information site. You'll see we have a Facebook page and blog dedicated to advancing what we believe is important for our state and nation. We have a goal of voting Denham out of office. People will say you didn't vote for him anyway and he still won. Like I told the Denham rep, very nice people, no I did not vote for him, but I also didn't campaign against him either. One of our goals is to help sign up as many new voters as we can. We realize a huge number of Mexicans don't vote in this county. We will be very vocal, and don't think we'll get tired, we like this. We are 2 old men that have nothing better to do. We even have some fun logos we made, and are exploring some shirts and stuff. Our organization we (tongue in cheek) call ourselves Los Pistoleros. I'll try to post fairly regular. I'm sure Robert will do some to.
